I'm honored to announce that I will be opening for Dúo del Sol this Saturday as a part of their on-going residency at the Silverlake Lounge. The event is being hosted by Classical Revolution LA, an organization dedicated to bringing classical music to unlikely venues. HERE is a recent article about Classical Revolution, a.k.a. classical music for the bar-going crowd. Dúo del Sol is comprised of Guitarist Tom Farrell and violinist Javier Orman. They've been called “avant-sonic acrobats” by LA Weekly and “exceptional genius” by I Am Entertainment Magazine... I will say it again, I'm completely honored and excited to be opening for them! I'll be performing 19th Century Italian songs from my most recent albumL'Arte dell'Amore, Brazilian and Puerto Rican songs from my first album, Love Songs & Lullabies AND some Schubert lieder that is new to my repertoire. RSVP AND MORE INFORMATION HERE

Classical Revolution is a great organization that pretty much represents everything I stand for, bringing classical music to unlikely places and showing that it's not as stuffy and many people preconceive. This recital will feature two sets, one by myself in which I will debut some new repertoire including "Gretchen am Spinnrade" with guitar accompanyment! What?!?! The incredible classical guitarist Cameron O'Connor will also play a set.

On Saturday, December 11, 2010, Evolver Long Beach and The Long Beach Time Exchange joins LBCreative!, Lyon Art Supply Vayden Roi Galleries, and a host of community organizations to bring forth “MixMás  – a collaborative celebration of community, art and culture”. Happening concurrently with Lyons at Night and 2nd Saturday Art Walk, this absolutely free event takes place jointly at Lyons Art Supply and neighboring Vayden Roi Galleries, located at 425 E. 4th St. Long Beach, CA 90802.

The event begins with a film screening, a card making workshop with the Long Beach Time Exchange, DJ's, unique handcrafted gift vendors, and food at 4pm.

Healing Mystical Science Collective will be blasting off in the early evening, playing a special experimental space noise set, before some electronic space funk from CAV3, the angelic harp magic of Peter Sterling, and artists recently featured on the Evolver Mixtape such as classical singer and guitaristTara Rose Davison and the indie pop of Paper City. Dave Jacobs will perform a special set of poetry to his BMX videos, and Lawrence Ervin mixes video with Psylite,  Rahfeezahkee and Zeroh on the psychedelic gadgets, after a set from punk band The Potential Lunatics.

With generosity in mind and a strong focus on giving, Mixmas will offer a food and clothing drive benefiting local charities. Guests can enjoy a 40% discount on supplies until 10 p.m. at Lyons Art Supply.
